Guide to Sazan Island

Sazan is Albania's largest island, covering 5.7 square kilometers. It opened to public daytime visitors in 2015 after decades as a restricted military zone.

You reach the island via a 40 to 45-minute boat ride from Vlorë Port. Once ashore, you can explore the abandoned Cold War-era military infrastructure or swim at the local pebble beaches.

Overnight stays are strictly prohibited, and you must depart before evening. Drones are also banned across the island due to ongoing military and naval restrictions.

Sazan Port Beach

This small pebble beach sits right near the main arrival port. It offers clear water where you can swim and relax after exploring the island's ruins. The water drops off quickly here. This makes it excellent for swimming, but you need to take extra care with small children.
